Frequently asked questions

Do I need an appointment for a flu shot?
No — flu shots at Pill4Me are walk-in during business hours throughout flu season (October through December). If you prefer a specific time or want to avoid waiting, you can call ahead at 604-705-3644. For travel vaccine consultations or multi-dose series, booking ahead is recommended.
Is the flu shot free in BC?
Yes — the seasonal influenza vaccine is provided at no cost to most BC residents under the provincial immunization program. This includes adults 65+, children under 5, pregnant women, people with chronic health conditions, and healthcare workers. Adults aged 5–64 without risk factors may also receive it free at pharmacies under current provincial funding. Confirm your eligibility when you visit.
Is Shingrix covered by BC PharmaCare?
Shingrix is covered for BC residents aged 65 and older under BC PharmaCare. Adults aged 50–64 can receive Shingrix but will pay out of pocket unless they have private insurance that covers it. The two-dose series must be completed — we track your schedule and remind you when your second dose is due.
Can my pharmacist administer the COVID-19 booster?
Yes. Pill4Me pharmacists are authorized to administer COVID-19 vaccines and boosters according to current BC CDC eligibility guidelines. Eligibility criteria change as the program evolves — call us or check the BC CDC website for current recommendations before coming in.
How far in advance should I plan for travel vaccines?
Ideally, book a travel health consultation at least 6–8 weeks before your departure date. Some vaccines require multiple doses spread over weeks (Hepatitis B series, some typhoid options), and your immune system needs time to build protection after vaccination. For last-minute travel, we can still help — some vaccines provide protection within days. Bring your itinerary and destination details.
