Health Conditions

What each condition is, how it’s treated in Canada, which medications are used, and when to see a pharmacist rather than a doctor — or a doctor rather than either. Written for patients, reviewed by Pill4Me pharmacists.

Under the province’s Minor Ailments and Contraception Service, pharmacists can assess and prescribe for 21 conditions plus contraception — no doctor’s appointment, and PharmaCare covers the assessment fee for eligible BC residents. These are the ones with guides so far:

COPD

Also called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, chronic bronchitis

A long-term lung condition causing persistent breathlessness and cough, most often related to smoking. Guide in progress — ask our pharmacists in the meantime.
